A Chinese two tier Mandarins hat box with summer hat, Qing Dynasty, late 19th century, the octagonal hat box with a conical top, each panel with brass and copper woven geometric pattern, the top section enclosing a summer hat, the lower tier empty (typically for winter hat); the summer hat of split bamboo covered with yellow silk gauze, fringed with red cord, trimmed with brocade and topped with a coral knob for first-rank official.
