Austrian sword of Falchion type, approx 95 cm overall length. Brass hilt with well executed lion head pommel and recurved cross guard terminating in lion heads. The broad carved double fullered blade with extensive engraved decorations including man in moon, sun in splendour, sword emerging from a cloud, snake, etc. Possibly a palace guard's sword from Vienna, mid 17th century
