A Queen Victoria VR (1837-1901) Diplomat's sword and scabbard Such swords were worn by military and civilian officials who held court with Queen Victoria in official capacities and also by British & Commonwealth diplomats whilst serving overseas and for visiting foreign Royal courts. Blade length, 80 cm. Makers mark Ede & Son, Chancery Lane. Etched Chancery Lane. Etched with crowned VR Cypher within floral scrolled panels, studded gilt hilt with turn down shell and cross guard with elaborate Royal Cypher, knuckle bow & Crown pommel, wire section grip, with gilt mounted leather scabbard. Length 93.5 cm
