An unusual white-glazed, relief-carved 'famille-rose' vase mark of Hongxian, the shouldered ovoid body surmounted by a short waisted neck, carved in low relief with bats in flight among clouds on a cell-diaper ground between a band of upright lotus petals at the base, and with ruyi head and stiff leaf borders around the shoulders and neck, the sides reserved with three 'famille-rose' medallions of boys in a garden setting, the base inscribed in iron-red with a four-character mark in a double square, box, 27.8 cm high
