New Zealand Medal, reverse dated 1845 to 1846. (J James AB, HMS Castor), impressed naming. Longley (RN & RM) confirms 4 officers, 56 naval ratings, 2 officers and 7 other ranks of Royal Marines (69 in all) from Castor received this dated medal. Douglas-Morris (NM), page 281 notes James was wounded at Ruapekapeka 11 January 1846. He was one of 30 wounded. With research notes.
