Two very fine, monumental Satsuma vases, a remarkable and scarce pair of Meiji period palace size hand painted vases, formed with eight panels, depicting court scenes and exotic birds in enamel and gilt highlights. Each vase has a matching cover and base, the covers being scholars and students. 81 cm. (2)
