A pair of George III silver sauce boats, maker's mark of William Sudell, London 1769, each with leaf capped C-scroll handle, gadrooned rim on short scrolled legs with palmette headers, on hoof feet, engraved with a crest of a squirrel and the motto- Qui Nucleum Vult Nucem Francat. Height 12 cm, weight 611g

- Gadrooning - A series of lobes usually as a border. In furniture gadrooning is found as carved decoration around the edges of table tops in the Chippendale and Jacobean style furniture. Gadrooning is also found as decoration on the rims of silver and ceramics.
