A pair of Barcelona chairs together with a single matching ottoman, designed by Mies van der Rohe for the German pavilion at the 1929 in the 1980s. The design was inspired by the ancient folding chairs of Greece and Rome, the chair is today recognised as one of the leading design objects of the twentieth century. These examples in burgundy leather., Purchased by the current owner from Dedece twenty-five years ago.

  • Barcelona Chair - One of the most enduring forms from the Art Deco period, the Barcelona chair consists essentially of two leather cushions slung on a curving tubular steel frame. Originally designed in 1929 by the architect Mies Van Der Rohe, for the German pavilion for the International Exposition of 1929, which was hosted by the city of Barcelona, Spain. The chairs are still being manufactured by Knoll Inc. but there are numerous unauthorized copies also available.
