A pair of a Cantonese export famille rose vases, late 19th century, the pair of baluster vases with everted rims, hand painted overall in bright coloured enamels and gilt with shaped panels depicting figural scenes in interiors and birds on peony branches with auspicious fruit and butterflies, divided by foliate borders with butterflies and Buddhist objects, each with applied lion ring handles to the upper body, the undersides ununmarked. Height 35.5 cm
