Four gold and gem-set rings, comprising: a graduated five-stone old-cut diamond ring; a three-stone old-cut diamond and coloured diamond ring; a ring composed of alternating single-cut diamonds and step-cut sapphires; a ring of foliate design set with a rose-cut diamond, one ring with English hallmarks, gross weight approximately 14.30 grams, all mounted in 18ct gold, size N, L, O1/2 and M respectively.

It was introduced in the 15th century and popular during the 16th and 17th centuries.
The rose cut was the most popular form of diamond cut until the discovery of the brilliant cut at the end of the 17th century, after which its use declined.
