A French gilt bronze figural mantel clock, signed Potonie, Paris, 19th century, the enamelled Roman numeral dial and count-wheel striking movement on one bell, set within a body cast in the form of a mountainous outcrop, surmounted by a figure of a young man and his dog, the lower body case with scroll and foliate border, above scroll supports, 35.5 cm high.

It is very fluid in a molten state, and its hardness, strength when set, and non-corrosive properties makes it most suitable for casting sculpture.
