Transfer to Victoria: 1961 two-page letter on Hawthorn Football Club letterhead from club secretary Ron Cook to Polly, enticing him to join the Hawks, '...we are most anxious to obtain the services of an experienced ruckman for our team..' and 'We feel that although we have never won a premiership, our general improvement over the last five years gives every indication that this year could be the year'. [Four months later Hawthorn won their first premiership. Polly Farmer did make the move to Victoria, signing with Geelong]
