19th century shell by C.H Wood, c.1860, beautifully engraved with sailing ships, armorials and descriptions, including a note from the C.H Wood stating a similar shell was presented to Queen Victoria in 1845, a/f, length 20 cm note: C.H Wood's work is represented in the British Museum and the Hull Town Dock Museum. He is also noted in Janet West and Arthur G. Credland's 'Scrimshaw: the Art of the Whaler,' Hull City Museums & Art Galleries, 1995, pp. 86-88.
