A Japanese Mashiko Mingei studio stoneware box, by Kawai Kanjiro (1890-1966), circa 1938, the hand-formed stoneware box with piped floral slip decoration, painted in copper red, cobalt and iron brown. With paper note detailing provenance. 5.5 cm high, 11.8 cm wide, 8.5 cm deep, Exhibitions: Exhibited at Newcastle Art gallery. Crazing visible to glaze, particularly to lid, no other visible losses, approximately 516 gm weight.
