J.R. Charton (Britain/Malaya, active 1920s?1940s), travel in Comfort by Malayan railway, c1933 colour lithograph, signed in image lower left, 72.5 x 53 cm. Linen-backed, printed by Caxton press Ltd, Kuala Lumpur.', in 1933 artist J.R. Charton designed five posters for the, Federated Malay States railway. A newspaper review of, Charton's work noted that the imagery of the posters was, 'Exceedingly effective' and would therefore encourage, tourists to make an overland journey through Malaya, [Ref: Malaya Tribune, 23.11.1933]
