The Football Record: Special editions for the 1949 State of Origin Game, June 25 (Victoria v Western Australia), the 2nd Semi-Final (North Melbourne v Carlton), the [Prelim.] Final (Essendon v North Melbourne and the Grand Final (Carlton v Essendon) with page 17/18 defective. (Total: 4). Mixed condition. Essendon 18-17 (125) defeated Carlton 6-16 (52) in the Grand Final in front of a crowd of 88,718. John Coleman brought up his 100th goal of the season with his last kick in the Grand Final.
