Sydney 1938: A registered cover sent from the temporary post office at the Games 'Village' on 5th February 1938 to a local address, with special registration label 'British Empire Games Sydney, N.S.W. No.30'. Very rare. The temporary post office at the Games 'Village' was opened on January 3rd 1938 but the earliest recorded postmark is Jan.14th. The existence of the post office was not well known by the athletes and it closed on Feb.19th (the last day of the Games), by which time fewer than 80 registered letters had been sent. We have seen only one other example.
