Carlton Ern Cowley: 1918-19 Carlton Football Jumper navy blue wool with 'CFC' logo sewn onto front, extremely rare, some minor faults. The earliest known jumper with the Carlton monogram. Together with book 'The Carlton Story' by Buggy & Bell (Melbourne, 1958) with signature of Ern Cowley and some sections highlighted; also Carlton 1919 Annual Report. (Ern Cowley played 23 games for Carlton between 1918-19, and kicked 51 goals. 'The Encyclopedia of AFL Footballers' states he was a clever and useful forward from Brunswick; he headed the League goalkicking with 34 goals in his debut season of 1918 and later crossed to Vfa club Prahran. Cowley was also a fine baseballer, who wrote about the sport for Melbourne newspapers)
