A Chinese spinach jade hardwood mounted table screen, modern, the rectangular spinach jade plaque of fine colour, with incised landscape decoration to both sides, each landscape accompanied by a poem. The plaque dated Xianfeng period cyclical date corresponding to 1853, but modern. Mounted on a Qing Dynasty style blonde hardwood stand., including stand 23 cm high, 12.8 cm wide.

  • Qing Dynasty - The Qing Dynasty was the last imperial dynasty of China, ruling from 1644 to 1912. It was established by the Manchu people, who originated from the northeastern region of China. The Qing Dynasty was preceded by the Ming Dynasty and followed by the Republic of China.
  • Incised - A record of a name, date or inscription, or a decoration scratched into a surface, usually of a glass or ceramic item with a blunt instrument to make a coarse indentation. Compare with engraving where the surface is cut with a sharp instrument such as a metal needle or rotating tool to achieve a fine indentation.
