A Chinese Dangyangyu hares fur bowl, Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), the conical form bowl with everted rim, covered in a fine dark glaze exhibiting blue-green hare's fur effect to both the interior and exterior, running thin at the rim to reveal an olive-brown colour. The glaze running evenly to surround the subtly recessed foot, 5.5 cm high, 13 cm diameter

The Chinese invented the printing press during this period, which revolutionized the spread of knowledge and ideas. During the Song Dynasty, China had a prosperous economy and was a centre of international trade, particularly in luxury goods such as silk, tea, and porcelain. The use of paper money became more widespread during this period, facilitating commerce and trade.
