A pair of Chinese quatrefoil Goldfish bowls, Tongzhi mark and period (1862-1874), the footed bowls of lobed quatrefoil form, decorated to the exterior in iron red with seven goldfish frolicking together, above a blue enamel band. Tongzhi six character mark in iron red to the base of each, each 6 cm high, 19 cm wide

  • Quatrefoil - A stylised four-circle design, itself contained within a larger circle, with Gothic origins and often seen as window designs in ecclesiastical architecture. The use of the motif was popular in Gothic Revival furniture of the 19th century.
