An Official Sample Book of Melbourne Omnibus & Tramways Tickets 1869 - 1915, A leather-bound hardcover book, 26.5 x 20.5 cm, red panel with gilt title 'Sample Tickets' to spine, containing an astonishing range of tickets affixed to the pages and accompanied by extensive manuscript information regarding the numbers issued, dates issued, returned, withdrawn or unused quantities, etc. The collection begins with a small quantity of Melbourne Omnibus Company tickets in use between 1869, when it was established and 1878, Melbourne Tramways & Omnibus Company tickets from 1878. The collection includes many special purpose tickets (including the American Fleet Visit), employee's tickets, parliamentary tickets, special event tickets and designated route tickets. At the end of the volume are several pages of tickets issued in other States and/or by other comapnies. Remarkable and almost certainly unique. (many 100s).
