Two 19th century Maori portrait albumen photographs, - a studio photograph of Patara Te Ngungukai wearing a rapaki as a cape and a European blanket as a cloak holding a hatchet. A counterpart photograph in the same attire is used as illustration in Tregear's 'The Maori Race' facing pg.504, the other portrait a Maori woman, photographer unknown. Each 19 cm x 13 cm.
