The Australian Tour to England, Scotland & Ireland, April to September 1938, a scrapbook, assembled and annotated by team member, bill Barnett and with a presentation inscription on the inside front cover, 'To George, in memory of a Grand Tour, and with kindest regards, Ben. 19381, a large format volume (44 x 32 cm) with half-leather binding, in which Barnett has collected and preserved a remarkable range of newspaper and magazine coverage of the activities - on and off the field - of the Australian tourists. The team comprised of 16 cricketers, W.H. Jeanes, the Manager and W. Ferguson, the scorer and baggage-master. Provenance: An incredible and unique record of this important tour and certainly the most extensive we have seen. This was to be the last tour for many years, with the intervention of World War II. The 'George' referred to in Barnett's dedication, is George Taylor, the late uncle of the present vendor.
