Sydney Cricket Ground - life Membership badge for J.O. Fairfax, James Oswald Fairfax (later, Sir) 1863 - 1928, third Son of James reading Fairfax, was born in Sydney and educated at Sydney Grammar school and Balliol College, Oxford (B.A., 1885), he was called to the bar of the Inner temple in 1886 and admitted to the Colonial bar on his return to Sydney in February 1887. In 1889 he joined John Fairfax & Sons. On 22 November 1892 at St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral he married Mabel Alice Emmeline (1871-1965), second daughter of Francis Hixson. This sterling silver badge was issued to him on October 16th 1890 when he became a life Member of the S.C.G.
