An 18th century or earlier Chinese bronze seated monk on carved wooden stand, head slightly tilted forward, hands in mudra pose, traditional long flowing robes, raised on an ebonised carved stand with blossom, cloud, lingzhi motifs and rocky forms. Some old repairs, height 46.3 cm.

    It is very fluid in a molten state, and its hardness, strength when set, and non-corrosive properties makes it most suitable for casting sculpture.
