1969-70 Australian Tour to South Africa headed display incorporating a fully signed Australian team sheet and an official team photograph (presented by Rothamns), attractively annotated in black and gold on green acid-freen mountboard. The write-up provides details of the four Test series, which South Africa won 4-0 together with details of the best performers on both teams. Framed and glazed; overall 106.5 x 57.5 cm. The Australian team led by Bill Lawry (Capt.) and Ian Chappell (Vice Captain) were ill-prepared for South Africa on their home soil. They had just completed two months in India, where they had won a five match series 3-1. The newspapers reported 'A drained and distracted Australian team has been mauled by the fit and success-hungry South Africans....[who] clearly established themselves as the top Test country in the world.' Soth Africa's best were Pollock, R. 517 (73.86) and Richards 508 (72.57) with the bat, and Proctor 26 wickets (13.58) and Pollock, P. 15 (17.20) with the ball. Australia's best were Redpath 283 (47.17) and Walters 258 (32.25) with the bat; Connolly 20 wickets (26.10) and Freeman 19 (38.95) with the ball.
