A large old Fijian Lapita pottery vessel, squat spherical form with tapered short rim, sgraffito engraved geometric branch form decoration to the neck, traditional gum (makadre) glaze with dribble effect, pit-fired. Note: In 1960 Hanna recorded the work of village potters in Fiji. Diameter approx. 27 cm, height 23 cm. Provenance: The Collection of Joy and Dennis Hanna.
