Eliza Josephson-Storey (Australian, 1934), Vase, 1915, hand painted porcelain vase with pastoral design of dancing figures by Sydney Long, signed and dated on base 'E. Josephson 1915' the initial letters of signature forming cat's tails, with printed Rosenthal marks, together with a first edition of Eve's Affairs, written and decorated by Eliza Storey, P. R. Stephensen & Co. Ltd. 24 Bond Street Sydney, First Published 1934 (2), height 21 cm. Provenance: Cf. for comparison collections of the AGNSW, item number 2234, and NGA, item number NGA 91.701. Other Notes: Eliza Josephson was a pupil of Mildred Lovett. She exhibited with the Arts and Crafts Society of NSW from 1914-1916

  • Art and Crafts Movement - The Arts and Crafts movement began in Britain around 1880 and quickly spread across America and Europe. The Movement took its name from the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society, founded in London 1887. One of the most influential figures behind the Arts and Crafts movements was the designer and writer William Morris. The movement continued until about 1920 and was followed by the Art Deco movement.
