Monumental Japanese blue and white covered jar, Meiji period, 19th/20th century, of hexagonal baluster form, decorated with mountainous landscape scenes within stylised borders, the cover embellished with flowers and geometric motifs, minor restoration to body, height 60 cm. Provenance: Property of a Lady, Sarah J. Conger Nee Pike, wife of the American Ambassador in china, c. 1898-1905, thence by descent. Private Collection Sydney (by repute)
