Poul Volther (1923-2001) was a Danish furniture designer who is best known for his simple, functional, and elegant designs. He was a master of craftsmanship and had a deep understanding of the materials he worked with, such as wood, leather, and fabric.

He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1923. He began his career as a cabinetmaker, and then went on to study furniture design at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. After graduating, he worked for a number of Danish furniture companies, including FDB Møbler, where he was appointed artistic director in 1950. During his time at FDB Møbler, Volther designed some of his most iconic pieces, such as the J110 chair and the Corona chair. The J110 chair is a simple, yet elegant chair made of solid oak.
