A quality large Japanese Meiji period Satsuma vase, ovoid form with a wide band of encircling figure decoration including various noted deities, Geisha with a floral basket and Samurai Warrior figure, ornate gilt enrichments including an encircling band of dragon decoration to the shoulder, the waisted neck with repeating motifs and an encircling band of very fine calligraphy, marks to the base include a large black ground panel with three rows of gilt calligraphy and the Shimazu circular crest above, old paper label dated 1945. Height 32 cm
