Cased pair of Forsyth & Co. of London flintlock pistols. Each pistol fullstocked in walnut with checkered grips, approx 300 mm overall with 172 mm octagonal barrel of damascus twist in 25 bore and with two silver inlaid lines at the breech, the locks with rainproof pans, silver lined touchholes and half-cock safetys and rollers to frizzen. Engraved steel furnitune, captive ramrods. The case with red leather covered three way flask, wa cutter, ball mold, ebony cleaning rod with brass jag, separate steel rammer, ebony handled turnscrew.

  • Ebony - Ebony is a close grained timber, black in colour. It has a fine texture which can be polished to a high gloss, making it suitable for venereering, inlay and stringing and its use as solid timber is resticted to small decorative items and ornamental decoration, such as chess pieces and musical instrument parts. The term "ebonised" means "faux ebony", timber that has been darkened during the polishing process to resemble ebony.
