A blue and white 'dragon and lotus' box and cover mark of Wanli of rectangular form with shallow rounded sides, the slightly raised top painted with two dragons confronted on a flaming pearl among ruyi -shaped clouds above crested waves and rocks, the sides decorated with a floral meander of blooms and scrolls and with ruyi sprigs on the corners, the raised rims with key-fret borders, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character mark within double rectangles (2), 25.4 cm wide
