A pair of Satsuma vases, Meiji period, late 19th to early 20th century, signed Gyokuzan with Shimazu family crest, richly decorated throughout with chrysanthemums, peonies and other blooms in an autumnal palette with touches of pink, mauve and aqua with gilt highlights, between a gold on iron red patterned collar and base; a gold on red cartouche and mon underside. Height 18.5 cm
