New Zealand Medal, reverse dated 1845 to 1847. (C Lee, Capt A Ft Gd, HMS Racehorse), impressed naming. With ornate silver ribbon brooch. Longley (RN & RM) notes that 3 officers and 24 naval ratings together with 9 NCOs and men of Royal Marines of this ship received this dated medal (36 to ship). Both Longley and Douglas-Morris (NM) record his surname as 'Leo' and the naming on the medal appears to be an engravers mistake. A part of men from this ship took part in the action at Ruapekapeka in January 1846. With research notes.
