'In '86 the artist followed his family to Torre Annunziata, the official seat/residence of his stepfather. There he painted many portraits, including the very beautiful one of his stepfather. Such a frank and handsome picture, with a warlike expression/countenance, worthy of Fattori. The painting was included in an exhibition in Palermo and achieved much acclaim.'
