The 1951 Finals Series 'Football Records' - Geelong's 4th Premiership: 1st Semi-Final, 8th September: Essendon defeats Footscray, 2nd Semi-Final, 15th September: Geelong defeats Collingwood, Preliminary Final, 22nd September: Essendon defeats Collingwood, Grand Final, 29th September, Geelong defeats Essendon. Besides winning the Premiership in 1951, Bernie Smith of Geelong also won the Brownlow Medal.
