William Ricketts, an extremely rare monumental two piece terracotta clay sculpture of large proportions, each piece featuring highly detailed faces of Indigenous Elders entwined and infused into the sweeping sculptures. A total of nine individual life size faces of Aboriginal Elders. This along side Lot.30 & 31 in this auction is considered to be one of the largest privately owned works known outside the artists Sanctuary in the Dandenongs, Victoria.   • Terracotta - Terracotta is lightly fired earthenware, red or reddish-brown in colour, used in ancient times. Fired at higher temperatures terracotta was used in the nineteenth century for decorative vases and similar objects, but rarely for utilitarian goods. Other uses for terracotta include roofing tiles, garden pots and ornaments. Glazed terracotta is known as faience.
