The Australian Team in England ? 1909. An attractive display comprising a real-photo postcard portrait of the team with printed title and team list, signed by all the test team players, an original silk scorecard for the fifth test at the oval (recording Bardsley's 136 in the 1st innings and 130 in the 2nd), a brass plaque inscribed 'Australia 1909, Warren Bardsley (1882 - 1954) became the first batsman to score a hundred in each innings of a test Match.' framed & glazed, overall 68 x 32 cm. The other signatories include Cotter, Hartigan, Bardsley, Carter, Trumper, Noble (Captain), Laver, Armstrong, Gregory and Macartney. Australia won the five match series, 2-1. Australia retained the Ashes with a draw in the fifth test. The fourth test was notable for the unprecedented bowling of Frank Laver, who took the best bag by a visiting player in a test in England: 18.2 overs, 7 maidens, 8/31.
