Basketry gable mask, Middle Sepik, Papua New Guinea. Woven plant fibre and natural pigments. Woven mask would have been used on the gable of a Middle Sepik meeting house. The wildly expressive form is accentuated with natural pigments, length 62 x 42 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, New South Wales
