Paddle, Lake Sentani, West Papua. Carved and engraved hardwood and natural pigments. A long boat's oar, carved from one piece of hard, light-coloured wood. With a long, flat, pointed paddle shovel, decorated on both sides with highly abstract geometric reliefs, and dyed red pigment, length 149 x 12 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, New South Wales
