A George III Scottish provincial silver presentation snuff box, rectangular rounded end form, the flat hinged lid engraved '1774 To Wybrants Oliphert Esq. of Ballyconnell from the Royal Borough of Rothesay'. Bearing unknown hallmarks 'TRE', Scottish thistle in shield, 'JO' and George III head in profile. 4.7 x 9.1 x 2.8 cm. 90gm. With slight openings to soldered seems at the back. Note: Two 19th century (1894) written notes, one on Ballyconnell House letterhead included, mentioning the presentation of this box to a descendant.
