Pair early 19th century French graduated brooches, 18ct yellow gold, with ribbon of pale blue enamel, set with natural pearls & Baroque pearl drop. Losses to enamel, W18.74g (total). Provenance: Count Louis de Castelvecchio (1826-1869), Son of King Louis Bonaparte of Holland (Napoleon's brother); thence by direct descent to current owner - private collection, ACT (Canberra).
