Australia V England 1977 Ashes Centenary: commemorative brass plaque (61 x 46 cm) presented to the Windsor Hotel by North Melbourne Cricket Club (12 March 1977), mounted on wooded frame, overall 65 x 50 cm. Ex 'The cricketers Bar', Windsor Hotel, Melbourne. The plaque States that the Ashes were created at 'Cliveden Mansions' however it is now accepted that the Ashes were created by Lady Janet Clarke at 'Rupertswood' in 1882, where they were presented in an urn to English Captain Ivo Bligh. (see lot 400026834).
