Albert Jacka VC Tribute Display

An Albert Jacka, VC Tribute, an attractively mounted and framed display, of army badges, ribbons and buttons, combined with battlefield finds - bullet, cases, a bayonet, trench art and a 9ct gold, and pearl 'Mother/A.I.F.' boomerang, brooch, together with a photograph of, Captain Jacka. Overall 74 x 106 cm. Albert Jacka, VC, MC & bar (1893 ? 1932) was the first Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross during the first world war. It is the highest decoration for gallantry 'In the face of the enemy' that can be awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces. Jacka received the medal for his actions during the Gallipoli campaign. He later served on the Western front and was twice further decorated for his bravery. He never fully recovered from the multiple wounds he sustained during his war service, and died at the age of 39.
