A superb rebinding of 'Maori Life In Ao-Tea' by Johannes C. Anderson, Whitcombe and Tombs, Christchurch, 1907. Elegant private binding of tooled red calf with decorative spine (by Lewis & Harris Bookbinders, Bath), additionally with rare, fanned fore-edge painting depicting a lake scene Maori whare, figures and other buildings, possibly Rotorua and Ohinemutu. Anderson was the librarian of the Turnbull. 22 cm x 14.5 cm x 5 cm
