A pair of large 19th century George Boyd pedestal garden urns, the ovoid bodies with relief historical figures depicting representatives of the British Empire paying homage to Queen Victoria. Extensive damage and restoration, repainted. Height 82 cm. Note: a similar pair illustrated in 'Pottery in New Zealand' by Gail Lambert 1985 pg. 104. This illustrated pair from the collection of the Auckland Institute and Museum 'From the Auckland old Colonial collection). Also illustrated in an original George Boyd advertisement.
