John Bower (British, 19th century), the clipper ship 'West Australian', oil on panel, signed lower right, 24 x 33 cm. Other Notes: an iron-built 599-ton clipper, the West Australian was built at Hartlepool, England in 1859 for park Bros. Intended for the Indian trade, she made a voyage to Australia in 1861/62, and three others from London to New Zealand in 1863-1866.
