A rare Wi Taepa flattened vase, Wi Te Tau Pirika Taepa (born 1946, in Wellington) is a New Zealand ceramicist of Ngati Pikiao, Te-Roro-o-Te-Rangi, Te Arawa and Te ati Awa descent. He is recognised as a significant figure in contemporary New Zealand ceramics, and a leading figure in contemporary Maori clay Art., of flattened disc form with mouth to the upper edge, the body finely decorated with abstract koru motifs to both sides. Impressed makers mark to base, diameter 20 cm
